On May 2nd, the Amarillo Campus started its annual Duck Hatching Program with eggs being placed in an incubator for 28 days. As good custodians of these precious eggs, the incubator ensured the perfect temperature and constant humidity so the chicks would have the ideal environment for hatching.
On Friday, May 27th the first duckling pecked a small hole through its shell. After some rest, the first chick continued to peck the hole and freed itself from the shell. By the end of the day on June 1st, the students were delighted to have 11 baby ducklings hatch! The students were able to visit and hold the new ducklings before they were returned to the farm.
