Over the 2 weeks leading up to Halloween, the TCPS STRIVE Club held their “We Scare Hunger” food drive campaign. This has become an annual school tradition with the High School grades competing to see who can collect the most food and toiletry items for the Markham Food Bank and Richmond Hill Community Food Bank. With this year’s campaign we collected an incredible 355 items! A very special congratulations to our Grade 12 students for collecting the most food donations in our We Scare Hunger Campaign.
Nearly five million people in Canada (approximately one out of every seven individuals) currently live in poverty. Poverty is a widespread issue across the country and the world, but vulnerable groups such as people living with disabilities, single parents, elderly individuals, youth and racialized communities are more susceptible. We hope these donations will be able to support the Markham Food Bank, Richmond Hill Community Food Bank and the many families in need. Thank you to all those who contributed to this year’s campaign.
