For the month of November, the IB Learner Profile focus was Thinkers. We want to encourage our students to use critical and creative thinking skills to analyse and take responsible action on complex problems. To coincide with the IB Learner Profile focus, TCPS held its annual Anti-Bullying Week from November 20th to 24th with the national theme this year being “MAKE A NOISE”!
Anti-Bullying Week commenced with Yellow Ribbons and Odd Sock Day. Students tied yellow ribbon on the playfield fence in recognition of anti-bullying awareness. Students also wore odd socks to represent everyone’s uniqueness and individuality. On Monday, students also attended a special presentation that inspired the audience to “find their magic” with positive affirmations demonstrated through the world of wonder! Brent and Sarah’s Magic Show is an impressive performance made a spectacular start to our Anti-Bullying Week!
Tuesday marked our very popular “Buddy Day”, pairing students from different classes together and giving them an opportunity to participate in interactive activities that encourages them to practice anti-bullying techniques in age-appropriate scenarios. Wednesday was devoted to House League Intramurals in the Main Gymnasium focusing on cooperation and good sportsmanship.
Following Thursday’s pink shirt day, the students and staff wrapped up the week on Friday watching a video that recaptured the week’s events and included a special message from our Elementary Student Activity Council. The Anit-Bullying Week heightened awareness, promoted a safe school environment and created a positive learning experience.
