At the York Region Science and Technology Fair hosted by York Univeristy, Safia won the Gold Medal for her project, Candies to Dye For, and qualified to participate in the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Fredericton, NB. Safia received a Travel Award of more than $2,000. In May, Safia participated in the Canada-Wide Science Fair as one of approximately 500 top Canadian young scientists from grades 7 to 12. She had a great learning experience meeting other students, professors and judges, and taking part in the activities hosted by the University of New Brunswick.
