This year, grade 5 and 7 Town Centre students once again engaged in the highly popular and informative TCPS TED Talks. The TED Talks are an important part of Language Arts classes that enable students to connect to concepts across the curriculum and exercise their skills in inquiry, research and communication. With an emphasis on a variety of global issues, TED Talks are a highlight of our International Baccalaureate learning.
Students presented virtually to their teachers and fellow students. The top 12 were selected from their respective grades and presented to a panel of judges. The finalists delivered outstanding speeches making the judging extremely difficult. On June 15th, the grade 5 and 7 classes had the opportunity to watch a video of the finalist’s speeches which concluded with the announcement of who had won. Here are the top three winners for each grade.
Grade 5 winners:
1st Place – Tvisha D. “Futuropolis”
2nd Place – Austin P. “Nuclear Energy: The Debate Continues”
3rd Place – Rayya K. “How Hackers Can Be Our Worst Nightmares”
Grade 7 Winners:
