The annual High School Awards Banquet on June 3rd was a grand celebration held in our Main Gymnasium, adorned to resemble an elegant banquet hall. The event honored achievements across academics, athletics, and the arts, showcasing the diverse talents of our student body. Attendees enjoyed a catered lunch amidst a festive atmosphere created by our dedicated staff.
The ceremony commenced with accolades for our International Baccalaureate students, recognizing outstanding performance in the IB Diploma Programme. Special congratulations to Diba D. and Ella S. winners of the IB Learner Profile Awards, Ethan B. was awarded the Creative Thinker in CAS Award and ToK Award and Tommy Y. won the Resilience in Extended Essay Award.
Following this, the Arts Night Awards were presented to students who showcased exceptional talent in this year’s play production recognizing them for their roles and contributions. Congratulations to the following students: Sayeli J., Michelle C. and Arshia N. – Rising Stars Award, Ben P., Tommy Y. and Ella S. – Shooting Stars Award, Dharma P. and Leka M. – Above and Beyond Award, Aidan S. – Director’s Choice Award, Daniel S. – Curator’s Choice Award and Jessica K. -Conductor’s Choice Award.
Our Competitive Sports program also took centre stage, with coaches highlighting exemplary athleticism and sportsmanship. Medals earned throughout the school year were awarded to standout athletes. Congratulations to the following medal recipients: Arman A. Gold Medalist – U20 Triple Jump, Silver Medalist – U20 Running Long Jump and Bronze Medal – U20 Standing Long Jump, Leo C. Silver Medalist – U20 Boys’ Badminton Singles, Jessica K. Silver Medalist – U20 Girls’ Badminton Singles, Ella S. and Nishtha S. Silver Medalist – U20 Girls’ Badminton Doubles, Komal C. and Reshmika G. Bronze Medalist – U20 Girls’ Badminton Doubles, Ella S. Bronze Medalist – U20 Girls’ Badminton Singles and Lakshmi T. Bronze Medalist – U16 Girls’ Standing Long Jump.
The event further recognized Athletes of the Year from each grade, as well as students who have consistently demonstrated athletic prowess throughout their high school careers. Congratulations to our Athletes of the year recipients: Jessica K. (gr. 9), Reshmika G. (gr. 12) Ella S. (gr. 12), Shashank R. (gr. 9), Hayyan A. (gr. 10), Leo C. (gr. 11), Arman A. (gr. 12). A special award presented was the Superfan Award, generously donated by Alumnus Mujahid Hemani, honoring the most devoted supporter of TCPS sports teams. This honour was awarded to Karthik J. and Dharma P.
Additionally, House League Activity Days celebrated student participation and achievements, with the Gryphons and Thunderbirds earning trophies across volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, table tennis and Mud Cup. The overall House Championship this year are the Gryphons.
The banquet concluded with the announcement that Simran J. has been elected 2024-2025 Student Council and Leka S. has been elected Student Council Vice-President. Diba D. will be filling the newly created role Chief Advisor. Congratulations to our students and staff for another outstanding year at TCPS!
