Project Confetti is a new tradition started this year to bring some extra holiday cheer to our local community.
Project Confetti is a small organization that provides blank boxes to those who wish to donate items to the Children’s Health Unit at Markham Stouffville Hospital. They provided blank boxes that were decorated and packed with donations of gift cards, books, toys, baby clothing, art supplies and masks by our grades 6 to 8 students. This worthy initiative allows many children at the hospital to open a colourfully decorated and personalized box with well wishes and positive messages written on the outside.
Our senior elementary students collected a total of 389 items. This was enough to fill 40 gift boxes! The 40 boxes, along with some extra donations that couldn’t fit in the boxes, were picked up by Project Confetti and will be delivered to the Children’s Health Unit at the Markham Stouffville Hospital.
As a prize for bringing the highest number of donations the grade 7-140 class was treated to a special pajama and movie day. Thank you to the grades 6, 7 and 8 classes for taking part and helping to make Christmas a little bit brighter for children in hospital at this time of the year!
