York Region Science and Technology Fair Medalists and Award Winners

The top 5 TCPS students from the Grade 8 STEM Fair and Grade 9 Science Fair participated in the York Region Science and Technology Fair on Saturday, April 5^th at York University.  More than a hundred students from York Region, representing 29 schools, participated this year and showcased 77 projects. Here are the highlights from the fair:

Grade 8 Winners

Hashini P. was awarded a Silver Media and received 2 additional awards.  The Challenge Award: Energy ($100 awarded to the top project in the Energy category) and the Young Innovator’s Award ($200 awarded for demonstrating innovative thinking).

Aesha M. received a Silver Medal.

Grade 9 Winners

Cassia S. achieved a Silver Medal and was given the Young Innovator’s Award ($200 awarded for demonstrating innovative thinking).

Radin G. was awarded a Bronze Medal.

Owen O. won the Amino Labs Promising Biologist Award.

The fair celebrated the creativity and scientific skills of students, with awards recognizing excellence in various categories such as Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food; Curiosity and Ingenuity; Digital Technology; Disease and Illness; Energy; Environment and Climate Change; Health and Wellness; and Natural Resources.
